I have an iPod Touch, no warranty and I would rather not pay money for someone else to fix it. It recently started randomly shutting off, first infrequently but then every couple of minutes. Now it it won't turn on at all, I tried all of the various reboot/restore methods and that gave me nothing.

Is there anything I can do to try to fix it myself, or am I just screwed? If no is there anything cool I can do with some broken ipod touch parts?

how about taking it to an apple store? they dont charge anything for checking out whats wrong with it - they only charge if you want to get it repaired through them. :)

edit: spelling

I was under the impression that if you had a warranty they would just take it and give you a new one. And if you didn't have a warranty or didn't pay $ they wouldn't do anything.
