Ipod Touch 4G - Any reason not to upgrade to iOS 5?

I've got a jailbroken Touch 4G currently running 4.1. It's used entirely for mobile gaming for me and my 4 year old, so having the latest and greatest iOS features wasn't a priority.

It's getting bloated with apps/games that we never play and I'm stating to have minor issues with the jailbreak. I just want to do a factory reset and reinstall a few games.

Do the battery issues with iOS 5.01 still exist on the Touch? Or should I just stick with the 4.xx series for now?

The battery issue was mainly on the iPhone 4s and to my knowledge has been resolved. I don't see a reason not to upgrade to iOS5 at this point.

Agreed. There's no meaningful reason to be on iOS 4 right now.

Battery issues are still there, go worse for many people. Just google it. Not sure if my phone suffers it or not. At work I have weak signal so that burns its. I also leave on bluetooth, wifi cause I don't like having to change it before I get in my car.

5.1 is supposed to fix it... but no jb

I wouldnt update it. Games crash all the time for me. Safari crashes like a windows 98 machine with 50 viruses. It is really pathetic how much this stupid piece of worthless crap crashes, and I havent even done nuthin to it except install apps.

I dont know how much of this is just general apple crappiness (and the cognitive dissonance of their customer base), vs how much is caused by ioS 5. But it did used to run better. Better, but never anywhere close to what I was sold on given how much money this company is sitting on.

Go for it. IOS5 is an incredible improvement. iCloud alone is worth it.

Did a full wipe and upgraded to 5.01. Looks good so far, but haven't installed much of anything yet.

I miss SBsettings already but can live without it.

I updated and never looked back. Never got into the jailbreak after Cydia started charging for nearly everything.

#1 reason for me was wifi sync. Now when I park my car in my garage my iTouch with iOS 5 syncs automatically and updates all my music and podcast. That alone is the reason I bought the iTouch to replace my nano. No more unplugging, taking upstairs to my office, hooking up, waiting for the updates to sync and then bringing back to my car and plugging in (often forgetting to do so until I already left for the day).
