ipod-size hard drives

anyone know where i can get a hard drive the size of the ones used in ipods and if they can be used as bootable drives?
i know micro drives arent recognized as bootable drives, so if thats what ipods use, then whats the smallest hard drive i can get
(by size i mean the size of the casing, not the capacity)

Something that has around a square inch base and a 1-2mm height.

Laptop HDs are the smallest consumer drives that are bootable. I dont think the ipod sized drives are consumer purchasable. They dont use micro drives (although I think the minis do, not sure.)
