iPod Question

Ok this is probably a stupid question, but I'd like to know the answer anyway.

Do I need my actual CDs to transfer music to an iPod?

I have ripped mp3s of my music, but my friends have most of my CDs. It would be pretty inconvenient to have to get all my CDs back.

Thanks

no, you just add your MP3s to your iTunes library and then copy them to the iPod.

you don't need to re-rip.
