I reformatted somewhat recently. I installed ephpod. I hook up my ipod via the firewire. My ipod gets recharged... but the comp doesn't detect the hard drive. The strange thing is... I'm pretty sure (can't exactly remember) that I've been able to use ephpod after the reformat. I'm not sure what I could have done wrong. I opened up my comp but I don't think I touched the firewire card in any way.

It's not detected by the computer at all. Not as another drive in my computer and not as one of the removable drives that show up in the system tray.

I haven't a clue what's wrong. Can anybody help?

Do you have the iPod software installed? Not MMJB or iTunes, the actual driver software and managing software? Install that, then check that EphPod has the right drive set as the iPod drive.

What's that?

Are you running XP? If so, service pack1 fixes some USB problems
That wont make a difference.
iPods are firewire devices. Only purchasing the USB cable does it become a USB compatible device.

iTunes still needs the basic apple driver software installed.
Better than EphPod? Thats a personal opinion. I dont like iTunes myself, its a pain to install, and a chore to transfer stuff to my iPod. Not to mention that it fcuked up my music collection.

itunes does not need the basic apple driver because it works with over mp3 players besides the ipod

it may need drivers for 3rd gen ipods but i know it does not require them for my 2nd gen ipod

Err... USB?

First off, make sure your firewire card is OK in the device manager.

What firewire controller are you using? Check the lounge FAQ, as there have been some problems with various cards.

What gen Ipod?
