I have an Ipod nano second gen. 2GB

1) why does it say 1.77GB, not 2 GB? I know it's always less than the advertised size but is this size normal?

2) Any way to hack it and make it play video like the first-gen ones?

1.77GB sounds about right. My 2gb zen came with 1888mb space total. You can do the math to see what it should be theoretically (2gb = 2000000000b) so take that divided by 1024 cubed to get gbs. It comes out to be 1.86gbs, so figure apple used about .09 of that for software or whatever they put on there, and you're at where you're supposed to be.

As for your second question, I wasn't even aware -any- nano could play videos

Normal,
mini,
micro,
nano.

THAT is the progression, SUCK IT APPLE. It's way too colossal to be called the "nano", even in marketingspeak.

oh...that kind of "hack". I assumed he meant trying to install gen 1 firmware or something, and I wasn't aware gen 1 could play videos
