Ipod nano question - help!

My daughters Ipod nano seems to be scrolling through her songs when she selects the Shuffle feature. Normally it will randomly select a song and then play it and then randomly the next. But now it seems to be stuck in a mode where it just scrolls through the list of songs randomly. How do we get out of this mode? Or is it broken?
 
Ok as it turns out there was an update on Itunes which affects the Ipod nano apparently. After we ran the up date and connected the Ipod nano - it reset the device and re-applied the music.
