ipod nano is simply TOO much of an instant icon

use it, wear it, and your own identity is immediately submerged, you are now "an apple ipod user".. those white wires are visible from a mile away, it's like walking around with a Warhol print stuck to your forehead.. sure, it's a classic design, but it's such an instant icon, it has iconic meanings that submerge the user's identity. imo it's really pitiful to see those creepy, "artsy" "creative" geeks who dress badly and have bad teeth whip their ipod nanos out of their pockets. I just don't want to be associated with all of that. please give me a small, discrete, grey or black colored mp3 player that won't attract excessive or undue attention to itself. :|

I kinda feel the same way... but my feelings are more along the lines of "do you HAVE to 'effing listen to music every waking moment of your G' D' life?! put the headphones down and let your brain relax for a minute!" while driving on the highway a car passed me and i glanced over to see the guy riding shotgun had one headphone in (his right ear) holding up his iPod for all to see. an audible "WTF" left my mouth. You are the passenger in the vehicle, TALK TO THE OTHER PERSON, and if you need music TURN ON THE RADIO SO BOTH CAN ENJOY/DISCUSS!

(I own an iPod, almost bought a nano until those articles about cracked screens, and for some reason i don't understand i choose not to wear my iPod around as much as i used to because so many others have one, I don't know why, it just annoys me)
