ipod mini in europe?

I want to buy an ipod mini as a gift for someone who lives in switzerland. Does anyone know if this should work okay if they use a regular outlet/voltage adapter (ie, not apple's travel adapter)?

Also, a firewire card should also work fine too, right?

I am curious, because apple says that the mini ipod won't be available world-wide until april.

the ac adaptor works with europes power. but you do need a prong converter. those are cheap though. i remember frys sold a few for less then 5 bux.
