Ipod mini 2nd generation

Gf is buying one off ebay, and it's brand new in box unopened. I asked the seller if it was 2nd generation, but he doesn't know what to look for. It's the 4 gb model btw. Will the box indicate 2nd gen or not? Thanks!

I assume you're referring to the back of the actual ipod. I doubt the seller will open it up before selling...

If I'm not mistaken, the original ipod mini came in a box with a white background. The new ipod minis come in a box with a background the same color as the ipod itself. I could be wrong.

Also, I think the new mini's click wheel button pictures (the play, foward, previous images) are the same color as the mini. The old mini have grey pictures. That should be visible from the image on the box (unless, of course, it's the silver/grey ipod).
