Ipod internal connectors

How do the connectors work inside the ipod 4g? I am trying to replace the LCD display. They appear to me similar to connectors found in keyboard laptops, only very small. I managed to mangle the flat cable out of the slot socket and am now concerned on how I'm going to get back together?
