ipod in europe

So I'm moving to Europe for four months. (Spain)
I want to bring my new ipod. My girlfriend will have her gateway laptop with a mini 1394 port (no power?) So how do I recharge the thing over there and how do I sync it up over there on the laptop? How do I check if the laptop has USB 2.0, she got it one year ago from gateway.

You`ll need a socket converter, so you can plug an American plug into a European one, and maybe a step up/down transformer as well. The converters can be brought for pretty cheap (under £5), and you`ll have to find a specialist place for the transformer if you need one. Im not 100% sure on if you`ll need the transformer or not. European power specs are different to the British ones(im in UK). You could probably buy a new iPod dock/power station/USB/Firewire cable from a Spanish retailer or a Internet company baced in Europe.

With a cable, or using your existing Firewire cable and a 6 to 4 pin firewire converter.

If you go to device manager, look for the USB sockets entery, and it`ll say "low speed USB" for USB1/1.1, and "high speed USB" for USB2. And you could always check the manuel that the laptop comes with.
