ipod help...

Ok I own an ipod 30 gig.

I wanted to use itunes with my moms laptop.

(hook up my ipod to her computer, upload and download my itunes and limewire from her computer)

However in about 6 months ill be getting my own computer, if I plug in my ipod into my new computer will I lose all my songs?

Will copypod prevent this?

please help

You could try this: Sharepod

I have never used it myself, but I know people who have and it was seamless for them.

Alternatively you can download this:ephPod on your new pc and use it to copy all of your songs off your ipod. Once you have done this and you want to go back to itunes just copy all of the songs from the ephpod folder to your itunes folder, then itunes and your ipod libraries should match and nothing will be wiped from your ipod. I have used this method and it worked great.

The first time you connect your ipod to your new pc , if itunes is already installed on it, make sure you hold the shift and ctrl keys when you first plug your ipod in, this should override the autosync (i.e. itunes won't wipe your pod), then you can just set it to manual update and you won't have to worry about ever being auto-wiped.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, KT.

Ok I plugged my ipod into this computer, but my itunes wasn't working.

I wonder if I plug my ipod into my moms if my songs will be wiped out, since I already
pluged it into this computer.

Could you explain to me how 2 do what u just said?

Im retarded.

iTunes can be configured to autoupdate any iPod that is plugged in with songs from an iTunes playlist. This is convenient in some cases where you use the same iPod on the same computer over and over again. This also means that any other iPod that is plugged in will have its contents wiped out and replaced with the songs from your playlists.

If you want to avoid all this nonsense just turn off the autoupdate feature within iTunes.

The autoupdate feature can be turned on/off on a per iPod basis.
