I'll probably just leave it blank, but mostly because I can't think of what I would put on it. I was thinking of either a song lyric or a comic quote. You are allowed 2 lines, each with 27 characters.
 
Good if you're giving one as a gift - my father in law gave me an original 5GB iPod a few years ago when I graduated with 'Congratulations on your graduation' engraved on it.
