iPod-Firewire-USB question

About to buy an iPod.

I know it syncs with Firewire (which I don't have) and USB 2.0 (which I don't have)

Am I going to need to buy a Firewire and/or USB 2.0 card or will USB 1.1 work? I would really like to sync it with my laptop...but my laptop doesn't have Firewire OR USB 2.0. If need be I can buy a card and install it in my desktop.

USB 1.1 will work, but it will be realllllllllyyyyyy slow. But, you will need to then get the USB/Firewire cable so you can plug in through USB and charge through Firewire.

you can use your USB 1.1 card alright, but it'll be slower than a turtle stampede through molasses

Haha....GOTCHA.

So I should probably buy a Firewire Card then.

Yup. Bought a Firewire card for my desktop computer when I got my iPod, and never looked back.
