Ipod filename question

I need to know if the most current ipod will organize mp3s by folders and filename.

currently i have a creative zen and when you add mp3s to it you can just add a whole folder and it organized the songs in that folder by filename so they always play in order because they are named 01-title or whatever. most of my mp3s dont have a value in the track number field on the id3 tag so would an i pod play them based on filename? does the ipod organize mp3s in folders like the zen?

Thanks for any help

The iPod stores the files in folders F1-F17 (i think). Since it appears that the filenames in each of the folders are quite random, I guess that it somehow hashes the filenames and put it into one of the 17 folders. I think hashes work best with prime numbers although I'm not sure why.
