Ipod Conversion from Windows to Mac

Can anyone please tell me how to do this? I understand that there is some "flashing" of the firmware, and it will make the Windows version a mac version? Thanks. 🙂

thanks for the link...so it says

"You can convert your iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X version 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac.
Using the iPod for Mac on a PC, or using the iPod for Windows on a Mac, is not supported by Apple. "

does that mean that all I have to do is download the iPod software on my mac...and plug it in? Also...does anyone know if there's any performance difference? Also...does that last line mean that it will void the warranty if I do this? Why would they even mention this is they don't "support" doing this? 😕

i converted my 10gb ipod from mac to windows.

here is how i did mine.
i plugged in my ipod to my pc laptop. laptop detected it as a firewire drive.

i formatted it fat32.

then i installed the update from apple.com.

and now it's a windows ipod!

maybe it's the same as yours.

An iPod formatted w/FAT32 will read by both a Mac and a PC. An iPod formated w/HSF+ will only be read by a Mac. So a Mac can read a windows iPod, but Windows cannot read a Mac iPod.
