10GB iPod is $349.99 at Small Dog.

At the Apple Store 5GB is $199 and 20GB is $429. Go to "Special Deals" on the bottom left.

Here are 2 TechTV reviews.

It's simply the most elegant, functional, and easy-to-use hard-drive MP3 player available.

Creative's version of an iPod killer has some impressive features and a great price. But it'll need more than that to dethrone the iPod.

Not being able to also serve as an external HD is a big strike against the Zen. Don't discount the UI. I stopped using my last mp3 player because it was a PITA. That is why iPod is on my Christmas list and the Zen isn't. Ok, Santa!?

We all know about the Zen, some people like the iPod and I want to share the best prices(as long as refurb'ed doesn't bother you) I could find with them. Thanks.

Good price for a refurb, but just to clarify for others out there...
the Zen can be used as a portable harddrive ... it just needs software to assist with it (which i'm pretty sure the windows version of the ipod does too)
And since it is 20gb (not 10gb) and is brand new and cheaper ($299) I think the zen is worth the $$$

Zen 20gb at Amazon $299 after rebate

Just couldn't resist could you. Start a thread about the Zen then. Please don't turn this into an argument.

I can use my laptop as a potable hard drive it just needs to have an OS on it.

The iPod works as a firewire hard drive. Period.

Edit: SP Argument doesn't have an E. Zoinks!

not to take sides, but i think gig103 was trying to clarify that "the Zen can be used as a portable harddrive" since you said "Not being able to also serve as an external HD is a big strike against the Zen." i do not think he was trying to start an argument, especially because he started his post with "Good price for a refurb."

But Xbox is huge.

I expect a portable HD to connect to a computer, whether it is running Windows, Mac OS, or Linux.

ipod is currently $359 for 10 GB at dell home S&P new
free shipping as well which IMO is hotter since it is new

mac education store also has it for $369 if you are affilliated with any academic instituion

ie you are a student/teacher at a university or you have a son or daugher in K-12 you qualify

a good deal on the 5GB if it is a new model though

Hammer has the hot tip on better new iPod prices. Thanks.

I'll do a title change for my man upstairs.

The last sentence of the first post was a subtle, polite attempt to pre-empt bickering. A request != a accusation.

That is correct -- I wasn't trying to start an argument or anything -- I really just wanted to say it could be used as a harddrive. :)

Apple coupon isn't valid on refurb items.

What does this have to do with this thread, besides showing an obvious Apple bias?
