I got a 5G IPOD video for my bday recently and its a great little device. having tons of fun with it so don't think I'll be giving it up anytime soon. that being said every other apple product i have gotten so far (emac and a powerbook) i got the apple care package and it has been a great purchase because inevitably something has failed on both and apple sent a person out to my work the next day to fix it.

So thought about getting it for the IPOD but can you do it after the fact if someone has given it to you as a gift? i think the person that got it for me got it 2-3 months ago and i don't want to ask for receipts or anything...

Yes, you can buy the AppleCare Warranty after the purchase. I think you have as long as your original warranty lasts. Hope that helps. FYI, I have an iPod Mini and I bought it without buying an warranty. Then after, 4-5 months, I wanted to buy the warranty and it let me use the Warranty for the Mini.
