Ipod and audible like files

I have an ipod and I also have an aduible.com account and when i play my audio books from audible they remember there loacation. So if i am listening to a book and get sick of it i can go listen to music and come back to the book and it will play where i left off. I know Audible uses their own format .aa... is there any way to do the same thing with audio books that i own the cds for? Thanks
