I've got a 6th gen 80gb ipod with a bad board. Replacement boards on ebay for the 6th gen boards are $50 which is a little steep. The 5th gen boards are $20. I was wondering if anyone knows whether I can use a 5th gen board.
I'd imagine it wouldn't be able to address the larger hard drives that came out with the 6th gen, but since the 80gb drives were available for the 5th gen, I'm thinking it may work. I just don't know if the connectors are compatible.
I have a broken 5th gen screen which looks identical to the 6th gen.
