So I understand that H.264 mp4 is smaller file size/compression... does that make standard mp4 better quality on the iPhone or is H.264 better quality on the iPhone?

Thanks

ie: xvid file is 350mb should it be something like 120mb or 200mb

Depending on the Bitrate setting. You take ur original file bitrate multiply it by 0.7 and use that for the H264. That is the general rule. Also, make sure you use the correct resolution / aspect ratio, You don't want it to render needless black top/bottome.
