iPhone update imminent or just low stock?

When swapping out my iPhone today, I also inquired about their stock of new iPhones as a family member wants one.

They said they were OOS for the past week and weren't expecting more until next week or the week after. Odd, they had plenty of stock the weeks before.

Inquired about other stores and he said he called and the other stores in the area were out as well.

Checked Apple.com and rather than 24 hour shipping time, it shows 5-7 business days.

Possible update very soon?

I don't know. There have been rumors going both ways especially with Walt Mossberg's recent comments. It does seem likely that they will be releasing a new one soon, but we have not seen any FCC fillings or Apple invitations. Also, Apple said they would sell 10 million iPhones by the end of the year and they need to get their iPhone stocks back up to even reach that goal. So probable but not likely that there will be new phones soon. Maybe June.

I'm voting for June, personally. I think they will definitely have a refersh of some sort that comes out then. But until it happens it is just speculation.

An update is imminent, but imminent probably not being until June. Some official at AT&T also said that all of their pda devices, including the iPhone, will be 3G by this summer.

You are talking about stock at an Apple store correct? From what I understand, they are relatively easy to find at AT&T stores. That being said, I think it is possible that we will see an update soon.
