iPhone to Android text messages missing

Has anyone else with an android phone experienced some texts missing when coming from iPhone users?

I've never been registered with an iPhone so it has nothing to do with that big imessage scandal. We have a group chat with multiple androids and iPhones and the androids randomly don't receive messages while the iPhone users do.

Its mostly annoying because all of the iphone users just blame android and tell us to get iphones... but its iMessage that is different than texting which has been the standard for 20 years.

Once it's a group chat, I think it's now MMS and not SMS, and that does matter to some degree. I just got an android phone, and the first thing I noticed was that group texts don't stay grouped. Whether or messages aren't getting through, I can't say.

Maybe it's a carrier thing?

I've definitely had issues with group messages from iphones. I think I was getting them all, but they wouldn't be grouped when coming from an iphone. All of the group messages from android users worked fine for both android AND iphones and best I could tell, so it seems to be something when started from the apple side.

I use Google hangout for my text message app and it groups iPhone and Android users just fine in group chat.
