IPhone streaming video question

If I put some of my dvds in some video format on my server would my iphone be able to access and play them? If so that would be great for my kids when on a trip.

You can't stream music or movies with any programs that I've ever seen or heard of for the iPhone except Remote and that's just music.

You could use Handbrake (free open source DVD -> iPhone program) to put them on the iPhone and then play them on there. In addition to movies, there's plenty of good games in the AppStore which are good for entertaining kids. My daughter plays Solitaire and Labriynth for hours on end.

Simplify Media does audio, however I'm not immediately aware of anything for video.

I know I can watch youtube videos I just hoped I could put some videos on a home server and access them.
