Before I take this thing to the store (for the 4th time :colbert: ), have any of you had issues with the storage space on your phone? My 5S says its completely full but when you go into usage the largest thing I have is 2GB and the rest are from 400mb and it drops off significantly from there.

I am definitely not using 16GB. I transferred all my photos to OneDrive, I have no music on there since I stream everything.

Don't updates that haven't been installed yet take up space?

Check System Usage? iMessage seems to take up a lot of space.

That's what I mean. Under usage, it basically says there's nothing that should be filling up my phone like that.

Don't updates that haven't been installed yet take up space?

It won't even let me update because it is saying that I don't have enough free space.

According to what I have read, that Other category issue is something that Apple is working on. It's a software issue not hardware. The only known fix is to restore your phone and then add your apps back on.

There are many threads on this issue in the Apple Support forums. Here are a couple to look at.

Well that's annoying. One thing I hated about Android was the need to wipe and redo for every ROM. Since I can't use my iCloud backup I'm going to have to redo everything again.

Definitely a sucky way to handle it. Apple has not done a good job in handling this issue. Supposedly iOS 8 will fix it. Who knows though!

Other means space that apps use - for example, podcasts. One my iPad, I had 8GB of other and found it was the audio edition of The Economist app. Apps that store music or movies - other than Apple apps which show up as video, audio, etc. are good suspects. Also 3rd party email apps. That's why nuking the phone and adding back apps fixes it.. Because you delete data from the apps.

Maybe my GoogleMusic App? question is, isn't it supposed to be caching and then deleting?

I downloaded a 2 gig movie from itunes, deleted the movie but in remained in "other" as this bug. Bothered me enough to factory reset the phone. Itunes on pc was an awful experience to.
