Really Sprint? Really? This is such a dumb strategic move. If you're not going to be getting the iPhone, why keep up the facade that you might? All you're doing keeping customers in limbo about upgrading their phones to a next-gen Android phone, hurting your launch sales numbers. And when it does come out that you're not getting the iPhone, you're going to have a bunch of pissed off Sprint customers.

This seems standard practice. Companies rarely let their employees weigh-in on rumors. Especially with Apple stuff. I bet Sprint doesn't get the option to reveal more about the next iPhone till Apple has a keynote- pissed off customers or not. Sprint doesn't need to piss off Apple, as that FOR SURE would end in no iPhones for Sprint.

Honestly if I think about it, if someone really is holding out for a Sprint iPhone then they need to relearn how to deal with their phone maker. Unlike Android phones NOTHING certain comes out on the iPhones till Apple is ready and NO ONE gets the special privilege of knowing beforehand. If you are gonna play with iOS, you might as well get used to the cold and satisfying taste of Apple's iron fist.

Apple telegraphs its moves through about 6 different sources.

One of those sources has confirmed not only the iP5, but the iP4 will be released on Sprint.

I agree with what Pliable wrote... Apple told Sprint they couldn't say anything, and then tactically leaked it through the WSJ. The WSJ has been a reliable source in the past for Apple "rumors" - with rumors in quotes because I think Apple uses them to directly control the flow of information so they aren't really rumors. Sprint has been told not to say anything, and they aren't. Meanwhile Apple is doing it's usual thing.

This same thing happened with Verizon and the iPhone back in Dec. last year. I can dig up the links if you need proof, but it was virtually the same thing. WSJ says Verizon iPhone coming, Verizon CEO and employees say "no comment" and then like 'magic' everything happens just like the WSJ said it would.

"No comment" is corporate speak for "yes" in this situation. If it weren't true they'd deny it for the reasons you state. They just aren't allowed to talk about it yet.
