iPhone Registered to Different AppleID?

I bought an iPhone 4 new from AT&T a few years ago. I have upgraded to a 5, but I still keep the 4 around as a "Touch". I went to "My Support Profile" on the Apple website and noticed that the 4 was not listed. When I tried to add it, I got the following message:

ccording to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out.

Wat?!?! I have no idea what other AppleID it could be registered to?


I guess this would be similar to buying a used iPhone on CL or eBay...


How do you transfer the phone to you AppleID?

The problem is not that the phone thinks it is registered to the wrong AppleID - All the settings on the phone are registered to the correct AppleID.

The problem is that Apple has it registered to the wrong AppleID on their system.

Odd. Not sure what to say. Did you purchase the phone used or new? Maybe a visit to your nearest apple store is in order? Or calling their customer service line?
