iPhone photo sync to PC

Whats the best solution for this? I do have Drop ox, so I can use it to upload photos, but I assume there's a solution for directly moving them without using a cord?

Well if you have iCloud, you could use that to transfer any photos taken. Or if you have wi-fi sync enabled, I think (I'm not sure) you could transfer wireless over your home wifi network.

Itunes sync only seems to allow moving from PC->phone. I have been using Dropbox to upload them, which is basically comparable to what iCloud would do, from what I can see.

Currently, I'd say iCloud is your best bet. But personally, I don't like iCloud very much.

The best solution for Windows that I can see... is still to plug the phone in and use Lightroom to import and organize photos from the phone.

The cord is still not cut completely in some cases.

If you own a digital camera, pick up an "eye fi" card. It transfers photos via wifi, via eye.fi servers and they show up on your computer. If you own any eye fi card, you have an eye fi account which lets you download the free eye fi iOS app that does the same thing for photos on your iphone.

Eye-fi is what I was using before photostream became available.

I thought the rap on PhotoStream was that it does not allow you to delete photos (you can delete ALL photos, but not selectively).

you should have an icloud icon in the control panel. set it up with your apple id. set up icloud on your iphone and it will sync via wifi

But doesn't it upload them to iCloud, and then the pc downloads them from iCloud? I can already accomplish the same thing with dropbox so I don't really see a reason to use iCloud.

So you can just take pictures and have them show up automatically on your desktop with drop-box with no other user interaction?

I mean I can take a picture on my iPhone and have it show up on my AppleTV, in iPhoto, and on Windows 7 in under a minute without having to do ANYTHING. Not sure I can do that with drop-box.

Dropbox has a storage limit. 2GB by default but mine is somewhat over 3 thanks to referrals.

I don't care about having photos automatically show up on 50000 Apple gadgets that I don't have. I just want a way to get them on my pc without plugging in the cord. I'm not really aching to install anymore crappy Apple software (iTunes is more than enough) so Dropbox will be good enough.

you don't even need itunes to sync photos to your pc

Its obvious that the OP doesn't really care about how it works and would rather just use dropbox.

Not even sure why the OP even made this thread when their intentions are pretty clear.

Reading comprehension failure?

lolwut? Please educate me to my intentions. This whole time I had been under the impression that I was looking for a solution that would allow me to wirelessly move photos from iPhone to PC without involving "the cloud".

Honestly, some people here are doing all they can to live up to the stereotypes about Apple fanbois...

And how does DropBox sync your photos without involving "the cloud"?

It doesn't. That's why this thread is here.

The point of the last half dozen posts, is that if I AM forced to use the cloud, I see no reason to install another piece of software [iCloud] that will effectively do the same thing as software I'm already using [Dropbox].

iCloud does it all automatically, is free, and can store more images.
It would also not impact your dropbox quota.

iCloud "just works" while with dropbox you have to put in work/effort. By using dropbox you are making the process 100x more complicated than it needs to be.

Whatever I use, photos will be moved and organized, so storage space is irrelevant. They won't stay wherever they're originally synced or uploaded to. I don't take that many photos, so auto sync is a pretty negligible advantage.

If you knew that any answer other than dropbox wasn't "going to work" then why did you even ask the question?

Who said that nothing else would work? I would be utterly delighted with a simple app that would let me map a network drive on the iPhone while connected to Wifi, and copy photos to that drive. Does such a thing exist? I dunno, that's why I'm asking.

so last century

icloud just copies your photos automatically. no need for repetative monkey work

I think you are asking whether a direct iPhone-to-computer method exists and can transfer data over WLAN without having to go through the internet, right?

If it's so, you may want to check out PhotoSync. It's $1.99 in the app store, but once you have set it up, it is quite okay. All that needs to be done is for you to go in the app, tap a few stuffs, choose the computer, and off you go. The desktop side needs a free server/client type app, but that's that. It also works with the iPad in case you wanna make use of the Camera Connection Kit.

I actually used it once... while I was out, and it worked well over an ad-hoc connection created by my Macbook.

Sorry, didn't get your question last time, so I assumed you were asking if there was a way to sync photos wirelessly without user intervention.

You sir, are awesome.
