So I'm thinking about getting a new phone and have been debating on the iPhone or the Instinct. Anyone have a preference?

I would think the question wouldn't be iPhone or Instinct but Sprint or AT&T.

Walt Mossberg thinks the Instinct is good but "Doesn't Ring True As an iPhone Clone" and says in summary "If you're a devoted Sprint customer, or want to avoid AT&T, the Instinct is an OK choice. But it's no iPhone."

and his review seems to echo what a lot of other reviewers say - which is that the Instinct is good but not as polished as the iPhone or a Blackberry in terms of the OS, the keyboard, and web surfing.

If you like Sprint, and Sprint is cheaper, and you have good coverage, then the Instinct appears to be good. But according to the reviews that I have seen, the iPhone is better.

Have you considered the HTC Touch Diamond? It's much better than the Instinct although much more expensive. :) $549-$200 2 year contract = $349

This is definitely a good option. Isn't the Touch Diamond also sporting a VGA screen?

Yes, it's got a 640x480 VGA screen. It's also got a $100 rebate making the final cost $250 instead of $350. I think it's the closest thing Sprint has to an iPhone. I bought one two weeks ago because my company has a discount with Sprint so the iPhone was not a consideration. So far I like it. I enjoy the tweakability of Windows mobile.
