Wow, next thing you know they'll let you run more than one app at a time!
If AT&T had any control over that, sure.
Anyhow, I still don't get the big deal about MMS. Have fun paying out the rear end for text messages, meanwhile your data plan is effectively unlimited.

Wow.. let's see how many more dropped calls I get once this is actually turned on. I swear I'm so done with AT&T.

What's funny is...so what if another new popular phone came out with a camera...every single other phone in the universe has MMS standard on it...so what's the big deal? 😛 Can't wait for a CDMA iPhone, I'm jumping ship to Verizon same day 😀
Oh sure, otherwise we would have things like Skype and Slingplayer. But I don't believe for a moment that they're the ones killing the idea of multitasking. That would be all Apple.Originally posted by: Nothinman

You can't deny that AT&T has some influence over Apple's decisions about the iPhone.
I bolded the important part. You already pay $30 a month for 5GB of data with the iPhone; then AT&T wants to charge you another $2/MB (or $20/month) for text messages, because somehow they're not data <insert a "I just saw a 2 in a binary stream!" joke here>.Anyhow, I still don't get the big deal about MMS. Have fun paying out the rear end for text messages, meanwhile your data plan is effectively unlimited.
MMS is included in my unlimited SMS plan with Verizon, is AT&T going to charge for them separately?

I don't even want SMS or MMS. I'm content to just use IM, or the other million text alternatives. The problem is my wife won't use anything else, so we're stuck with it at the moment, until I can convince her to switch.

My main issue is that over the last couple months, I have dropped pretty much 2-5 calls per day. This is unacceptable. If you can't handle the load that is being put on your network, then stop selling phones, or pipe more money into your infrastructure. I'm so sick and tired of their, "Oh poor us, the iPhone is destroying our network." Really? Basically what it boils down to is AT&T got handed a superb opportunity and they flushed it down the drain. They have gotten more bad press because of the iPhone and it only gets worse as they make a big deal about little features like this. Ugh...

He's saying that in addition to the iPhone's data plan ($30) you still need to pay a fee for text messaging. Which is clearly considered "data" to most of the world.

I've had mms all along on Rogers/Fido. Never used it though. I prefer other IM apps like AIM as the number I can send is virtually unlimited. Personally, I've never understood the allure of texting all the time. I can see why AT&T customers want mms though. Apple really dropped the ball signing an exclusive deal with them. I've heard nothing but negative things.

To me this means nothing because I'm perfectly happy with my 450mins/mo with rollover.. but I don't use voice that much, text and data is all I'm after. Compared to other carriers a meager $100/mo isn't so bad.
