iphone lcd

Friend of mine got her iphone wet. Everything works fine but the backlight. Would the entire LCD/digitizer need to replaced or what? It seems simple enough. I quickly googled iphone 3gs LCD and was surprised how cheap it was:

my daughter just flipped hers into a ice chest a few weeks ago, the lcd is very dim and the digitizer doesnt work anymore. i literally just changed the digitizer on it 2 weeks before that. im interested in this also, since after changing the digitizer was so easy, im thinking the LCD will not be too hard either

edit: didnt realize it said iphone instead of itouch, oops.
