iPhone internet won't shut down - ideas?

Hi all
I know it stays on, because I have Backgrounder installed, and my battery dies quicker. Does this shoot my usage rates up as well? Anyway, how can I trurn it off without having to shutdown everytime?

Thanks!

Are you talking about Safari or some other program, or just data usage in general?

If it's Safari, open it up, then just hold down the home button for 6 seconds, and it should force close it.

If it's data usage, have you tried airplane mode?

Yes, Safari. The home button turns off the power, I then need to reboot. Thats a lot of hassle. Is there another way?

So, I'm confused.. can't you just close all the tabs in Safari? You're still seeing data use going up even with all the tabs closed in Safari? Also, there's a process monitor for SBSettings you can use to close all open apps.

Even if you have Backgrounder installed, Safari is still set to follow the Apple rules on background processes. You need to see if other programs are allowed to run in the background.

If you still need something to completely shutdown the data. Settings -> General -> Network -> Data Roaming.

I dont get it, you want to close safari so it will stop loading pages? Well once the page is loaded Safari will stop transmitting. Plus, you say you have backgrounder installed so you must be jailbroken. Why not just download kirakae (sp?) and use that to close the apps running in the background that you dont want open.

If you have backgrounder installed, I assume you have SBSettings installed. In there you have toggles for wifi and 3g to turn them both off when not in use. They also have a processes tab that will let you kill all unused processes like Safari and Mail. Personally, I use SysInfoPlus which gives you much more info (mem usage, free space, network etc..) and I kill my apps through there.
