iPhone internet surfing and a popup?

While surfing the net I had a popup come up for some reason and give the your computer is infected blah blah blah thing. Well, I hit home, iStat freed up my memory by cutting all connections and was able to close out the browser window. I don't think anything downloaded but if it did, where would it go?
