iPhone HDR - where is original?

I turned on HDR on my iPhone 4 a while ago and it's been very nice for some shots, but tonight I took a bunch of my daughter riding a bicycle and I see a "ghost" image of her overlayed on the photo. I presume this is the HDR and it now seems clear to me that HDR is great... but not for action shots.

It was my understanding that you could get the original image back, but I can't find it.

For example here:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/camera.html

It says:
Then iPhone 4 layers the shots together to create a single photo that combines the best elements of each shot and more accurately represents the wide range of light in the scene. Both the regular shot and the HDR photo appear in the Camera Roll.

I can't see it. I figure this must be easy to find but it's definitely not in an obvious place in the camera roll... There's an HDR transparent overlay in the photo but that doesn't seem clickable. Based on the description, I'd expect to see two photos, but I don't. I just see the HDR one.

How can I get the original non-HDR photo back out of my iPhone?

Thanks

Humm, how weird. The Apple article is definitely right: in HDR mode 2 shots are taken in sequential order. The lower numbered (older) shot should be the original. To my knowledge there's no way to turn off the saving of both photos, so I'm at a loss to explain why you're having problems.

Short of wiping the phone and starting over, I'm not sure what could be causing it.

If you go to settings>photos you'll find a toggle that will save both photos. It's probably off right now so unfortunately you're SOL.

Yes, that was it. It was off. I turned it on now, but as you say, that doesn't help. I don't recall ever turning this toggle - or even knowing it existed. It's a shame, it was my daughter learning to ride a bicycle... my wife is not going to be happy with me.

Thanks to both of you for the replies. At least I understand the problem and the solution.

If you go to the Genius bar, they'll send you back in time with the right presets on your phone.
