Pretty much any decent SMS client program will handle this. I know GoSMS does it no problem, Handcent probably does as well.

Yea but its just like the stock app. It sends it per text message and not as a single thread like on iphones with iphone users.

I found my solution in the most unlikely place. Verizon Messaging App. It works just like iphones where group texts are sent as MMS and iphone users see it that way as well.

While it is true both these clients handle it, I don't know how well they do it. Both clients just added it very recently. I can say that GoSMS added this feature in the past 10 days or so. Handcent didn't get on this til the end of Feb or March with a public beta.

The stock SMS app just cannot handle this. I view this as a huge deficiency in Android and I'm glad Handcent took the initiative to bring this out as a feature. GoSMS played catchup and luckily they have a team of talented developers who finally made this feature an option in the app.

Can't comment on Handcent as I'm a GoSMS user, but there's an option you need to turn on. I'm not sure why it's not on by default. I also wonder how Google Voice users deal with group MMS texting... lol

Google voice still can't do MMS anyway, so it's a moot point :-/

People who use Google Voice for texting do it because it's free. I'm sure the people who live on texting already have paid texting plan. This is up there with Facebook sync issue in my book. I don't give a shlt because I don't use it. Obviously Google doesn't give a shlt about the feature either or they would've fixed it by now unless it's technical limitation.

they've stated they're working on it, and i think it works if you've integrated GV with your sprint account. but not on other carriers, yet

Which Verizon app worked? I was in the verizon app store and they had so many I couldn't pin point which one it was.

I'm surprised this feature isn't standard on an Android phone. Maybe I was too used to my iphone but I was surprised when I got a group text on my SG3 recently that it behaves the way it does by default. Also because of imessage habits, my friends will send me 4 texts to complete 1 small sentence. I'm going to need to upgrade my texting plan to unlimited at this point.

I wonder if Android will ever come up with a standard imessage/bbm type service?

Feature works fine on Windows Phone as well. I too find it totally bizarre that Android hasn't implemented this.

There's one that's actually named verizon messaging app lol.

I stopped using it though. GoSMS has the feature now and all you have to do is to enable it in the settings.
