iphone email setup problem

im trying to set my iphone email account up and it keeps telling me "cannot connect using SSL" and under it it says do you want to try setting up the account without SSL...i have tried both ways and still no luck...can anyone walk me through it or tell me what im doing wrong..my email account is with gmail...thanks alot
 
I've heard of people having problems setting up their gmail account. I was able to add it fine.

Did you check the apple discussion forums? Lots of answers over there.
