iPhone earphone+mic also works with Nokia 3.5mm connector ...?

Can I use the iPhone headset with a Nokia mobile phone ( with a 3.5mm connector ), or vice versa ?

Someone I know says 'No' .

Why ?

Any difference in the connector ?

I think that the earbuds would work but I am not positive about the mic. The connector on the Nokia might not have the pin mic, or may have it in a different place, or may not allow for a mic on the 3.5mm jack at all.

Why not plug them in and try it?
