I can go 2-3 days without charging. I would say it's on par with the two treos I had and better than any winMo phone.

I love my iPhone, but the battery life is a lot worse than my Treo 650 that the iPhone replaced. Then again, the iPhone does more than the Treo, so it is an OK trade-off.

I charge my iPhone at every opportunity, including in my car (ProClip rocks!) and in my office. Howver, I am going to Disneyland today, so this will be an interesting test of the battery life.

I have recently put 4 hours of use on my iphone (gaming, calls, etC) and ave standby on 3+ days...with 50% bat left.

I have WIFI off, no push, only using EDGE speeds for browsing internet (Tzones hack).

I'm usually at about 30% left when I go to bed at night, after a good hour of talking on the phone, maybe an 30-45 mins of wifi web browsing, quite a bit of playing with apps, e-mail push, and other usages. As long as I charge it every night, battery life as been fine.

In the meantime, for about $50 you can get this device which about doubles iPhone's life . .

I use this:

The things that I'm seeing in the check-out lines are things like these:

Coupled with a bunch of NiMH AA batteries, you'd get something like the thing above with the ability to just buy more AA's if you needed to.

Has anyone else tried any of these (or any others) that they have been happy with?

I will be going on vacation in April where I will be taking 2-3 hour bus rides and would like to be able to use my iPhone for music and movies and I know I will need more than the standard battery life.

BTW, my iPhone (and my son ;)) lasted all day at Disneyland, though I was not using it all that much except to check my work e-mail once an hour or so.

I think the battery life is fine. It's really convenient having the dock as well because i usually set it down by my computer and having the dock there makes it convenient to charge it.
Also, if it's fully charged, it lasts the whole day and is about around 30-40% by the end of the night. That is with push from two email accounts (personal and work), light internet, heavy music, and medium phone usage.

I charge it every other night-- push email + 3g on all the time + light/moderate web surfing those 2 days. I'm perfectly content with charging it... hell, even if I had to charge it every night I wouldn't care.

Hope my new iphone's battery just needs a few power cycles to do well as the first charge only lasted around 8 hours =/

Granted I was screwing around with it a lot setting up email/apps and such. I turned off location service, wifi, and 3G and I'll just turn them on as needed now.

I just got a 3G iphone after a year of having a 2G. I will report on it, but so far my feeling is that wi-fi makes or breaks the the battery on the phone. Keep it off unless you really need to speed.

Wifi has had no impact on my battery life when i've kept it passive - it's the 3G that kills it.

Warning:

My Zap died after only a few months yesterday, as did someone else's ;). See this thread.

UPDATE:

I contacted the company I bought the Zap from. They put me in contact with someone at the manufacturer who gave me a RMA# and told me to ship the dead unit to them. He said that, when they receive it, they will ship me a new one.

I recently purchased a Phonesuit Mili that is en route right now, because I needed something fast for my upcoming travels, but at least the manufacturer seems to be standing behind their product. We shall see how long this one lasts.
