iPhone contacts backup

How do I set up my contacts to be backed up? I use Verizon backup for my contacts also but I want a secondary backup as well.

I went into iCloud and turned on Contacts. Is that all I have to do? Does 'Backup' under iCloud need to be on also? I only want my contacts to be backed up.

You can confirm by going to icloud.com and checking to see if your contacts are all there.
