iPhone car mount/AC adapter?

Strangely, not a lot of google hits for this, especially the GPS part. There's car adapters, but what about a mount (landscape?) that will allow you to use the GPS as, well, a GPS?

Currently the Google Maps software is not able to be use in landscape mode. Also, Apple has some language in the Application Development which prohibits turn-by-turn directions in a 3rd party application. The current Google maps doesn't have a GPS-esque turn-by-turn feature.

All in all, I think that the 3G iPhone won't be that great of a GPS for navigating. It will be great for location based services though.

And to answer your question...for the 1G iPhone you can buy a product from ProClip which fixes to the front console over a vent. I'd assume they'll update it for the iPhone3G.

They just don't want the liability when some ass drives into a brick wall while looking at his iPhone 🙂 That being said, Tom Tom says they have an app ready and waiting, just curious if they will work something out with Apple, or if its gonna be a jailbreak only feature ...

Why would Tom-Tom software be released through non-official means? They won't get any money(or not nearly as much) if it isn't in the app store. Most GPS (V-Z navigator, etc) are subscription based anyway...people won't be really happy to add an additional $5 or $10 to their monthly iPhone bill for GPS.
