Iphone battery life question

I've heard that leaving 3G turned on has a massive hit to battery life, does anyone know if this is still the case if I live somewhere that 3G isnt available? Meaning, will turning it off have an impact since my area is Edge only?
 
It will probably have some impact, since it will be looking for a 3G signal. Honestly though, if you don't live in a 3G area, there is no point in leaving it on anyway.
 
Yes it will still have an impact because it will not be looking for that 3G signal. If you go to edge you will have longer battery life. Just look online to see when you'll have 3g access in your area.
