I just got a IPhone (16GB 3G S) and i absolutely love the phone especially with the wide variety of apps available for it. One of the main reason i got the phone is so i could use it at work. I get great reception in my area almost everywhere but i found out i can not get reception at work (Unless i go to the window). Everyone who has any of the carries, except for verizon, have trouble getting reception at work. We have a verizon tower right across the street so reception is great in the entire building.

There is my delema. I love the iphone and everything it does but i'm unable to even use the phone at work. With how much money you spend for an iphone most people would want good reception everywhere they go. I can switch to verizon but then i can't think of one phone on their network that i really like :(. If your just into checking your email the blackberries are good but i want more than that. I don't like the blackberry storm (maybe the blackberry storm 2 will be better). There are rumors that a lot of android devices are supposed to be in the US market this fall but they have yet to say which carriers of exact dates. Also there has been unconfirmed rumors that verizon might get the WebOS phones this fall also...but again "Unconfirmed".

What would you guys do? Would you just deal with the no connection at work and stick with the iphone? If i do then i'm stuck for 2 years. If something comes out on verizon thats good then i will have to ride out my contract. Or would you get something thats not as perfect but gets good connection everywhere: Blackberry or WMobile?

Any help would be appreciated. I need to make up my mind soon cause i need to return the iphone if i'm going to go that route.

thanks,
Ncage

What job do you have that lets you spend lots of time playing with your phone?

At any rate, if the only "connectivity" that you're missing is for data, does your workplace have Wifi?

To answer both of your questions:
1) I have an office after 9 years. Fat chance i'm going to give that up. I"m sure it will be another 9 years before i get a window office:
2) They don't of course. I don't spend a lot of time on the phone but i still i want to be able to get a connect. I check my email, ect ect...but i don't spend a lot of time on the phone....but heck i can't even check my voicemail or take a call at work because the connection is so bad. Its not only data i can't its also voice. They do have WIFI but there is no unauthorized devices allowed on the network (which i totally understand).

No matter how nice the phone it is pretty much useless if you can't get a signal. Assuming you are like the majority of the US population you spend more time at work than anywhere else. So that means the majority of the time you can't use your phone. Take it back and get something on Verizon where you can actually use it. The new Blackberry Tour should be out sometime next month on Verizon. I am guessing it is going to be late this year before Verizon gets anything WebOS.

Work Wifi + iPhone + Skype = Profit?

Ahh just read your latest post.

The Blackberry Tour is going to be sweet. Rumor has it is coming out on the July 13th. It's an updated version of the BB Bold on Verizon. No Wifi is the biggest downer of the bunch, but it will probably be the best keyboard based phone out on Verizon. It has a sleek form factor, nice high res screen, great keyboard, good browser (doesn't touch Safari on iPhone, but Bolt/Opera Mini/Skyfire [with flash] should be good). I've heard that the browser will be the best native BB browser to date (whatever that means, the native browser on my 8330 Curve isn't that great but gets the job done for mobile sites. For full blown sites I use Bolt which is great).

nothing beats the iPhone as far as app availability goes. i have a BB Storm and i wish it had more good apps available. its a great phone altogethor, but the iPhone has some maturity over (seeing as how it had 2 years more developmental time for apps)

I am totally in the same situation as you. It sucks spending as much on the iPhone and not be able to use it. I think I am ultimately going to return it at the end of this week. It will be a sad good bye, but having to shell out over $2,400 over the life of the contract and only be able to use it 50% of the time is absurd. No use in throwing out $1,200.

with BB Storm 2 coming out soon i am sure there will be more apps soon. Just like first gen iphone does not get a lot of apps until iphone 3G came out...50,000 apps 2 years later. Just a patience you will see.

Since, everyone that doesn't have Verizon has issues don't blame the iPhone. Have your company issue you a Verizon phone for work.

why do you need to use phone at work? my boss wont let me use the phone at work except for break and lunch time. I remember I had tmobile with bad recption at work I dont care much because i love my phone. I use phone during the break time. I leave it on to recieve voicemail. If it is an emegency they can call at my work.
I paid my phone not for my work so there is no reason to return my phone back. if you use phone for work and the recption is bad then take it back.

Sounds like you work in an AT&T Datacenter... I know guys who actually dropped AT&T despite the employee discount just to have their phone work at the office. Verizon's signal band seems to be the only thing that penetrates the computer room walls

FWIW I used to be in the opposite situation. No reception with VZW @work, perfect everywhere else. I adapted by sending everything to VM, checking calls whenever I go on break, etc. It sucked balls.
