iPhone and MS Exchange

Sorry if this is a stupid question:

Apple has confused me with their two data plans. I understand the new iPhone supports MS exchange syncing, push email, etc. I am unclear however if the $45/month business data plan is required to access Exchange services, or if that's simply a higher prices plan for phones being purchased by business clients.

Thank you for any help.
 
My understanding was that if you're using Exchange to get email, you need to get the business data plan. I was going to use Exchange till I saw that, and instead, I think I'll just use Mobile Me.
 
The best we can tell based on AT&T responses thus far is that YES, you will likely need to pay the $45/mo plan to have any access to exchange servers, whether or not you are technically a business customer or not.
 
What I find funny about this, is that you get this service from MobileMe. It can't be any more expensive on AT&T's part to allow you to access it from the regular Data plan, but they are again being greedy.

I, personally, am going to hold off on the Enterprise plan and see if there isn't a hack that comes along soon. If not, then I will regrettably add that service to my plan.
 
I'm not sure why you'd need a different type of data plan - data is data - if the phone has access to the internet, it should be able to connect to Exchange unless provider is purposely blocking certain traffic.
