iPhone and IMAP not working properly

This is driving me nuts.........and I don't know what is causing the problem. We got one of the guys here an iPhone and setup is email, now using imap. I've done this on 5 other phones with no issues. In Outlook Express and Thunderbird all 230 emails show up. When I go to the iPhone there is a block of messages between 6/23/11 and early on 9/14/11 that don't show up when I tell the iphone to show the 50 most recent messages. If I tell it to show the 200 most recent messages it then is only missing emails between 8/24/11 and early 9/14/11. So I can't figure out when it's not showing messages on the iphone for a certain block of time.

I even wiped the phone clean and started over thinking I did something to the phone.

The only thing I haven't done is update the phone to the latest IOS version. Do you think that is it?

This is really driving me nuts.

Should of posted sooner that I finally got it figured out. They were still on the server as I could log in via the webmail program and see them there.

I ended up dumping his emails to a temporary folder, deleted the email account on the server and recreated the email account on the server and dumped the emails back over. Now everything shows up. ODD, but it's working.
