iphone 6 removed from sale?

If you want to buy an iphone your choices are the 7, 6S or SE. I don't think you can buy the 6 any more from apple directly.

I'm sure it also didn't used to be this way and they would sell the previous 2 generations alongside the current flagship.

Am I missing something?

The SE is basically the guts of the 6s in a small body.

Thoughts on whether that means next year the only ones on sale will be the 7S and the 7, with apple dropping phones with an A9 chip. Will they continue to support phones as long?

They are doing you a favour. Friends don't let friends buy the 6.

It's missing a bunch of significant features and it only has 1 GB RAM.

Next year you will see the A11 in the flagship, the A10 in the 7 as mid-tier, and the SE will very likely get updated to the A10 as well. The 6s will get axed.

There is no price slot for the 6 this year, it's still an expensive device to manufacture so lowering it's price more would make no sense for Apple's margins. The same thing happened in 2013 with the 5 when they launched the 5c.

This, the price difference between manufacturing the 6s and the 6 is minimal, so they dropped the 6. Things change...

Thinking about this...does VR need loads of RAM. I guess you can't do (wouldn't want to) split screen on the SE.

It seems that idevices have always out CPU/GPU'd everything else but had just enough RAM to get by.

At this point the entire lineup is basically on an equal footing and only 1 year old across the board.

Actually the 7 Plus has 50% more RAM than all the othe iPhones currently sold.
