iPhone 6+ desktop icons

So my mother just got her iPhone 6+ today. Can the icon's on the desktop be moved to custom places? The messages icon is in the upper left hand corner, not easy for single hand use...

edit: just tried moving them but they snap back in their original location

Select an icon, then select and hold. They should become wiggly. Then you can drag them around. Then hit the home button when you are done. You can also use iTunes if you want to create folders, move icons to different pages, etc. There might be away to do it on just the phone, but I haven't looked it up.

Hovering one icon over top of another will create a folder that will automatically name itself based on the category of the two icons. You can rename it whatever you want though. And you can move to another "page" by hovering the icon near the edges of the screen.

Also, if she ever has a problem hitting anything at the way top of the screen, she can double tap the home button. Do not physically push it in. Just double tap it, and the whole screen moves down about halfway which helps someone reach those higher nav items. It is called "Reachability."

awe that's f*ckin awesome! Thank you! I'll tell her 🙂

I've triggered this by accident several times. Always thought it was a bug. Turns out it's actually a feature for once!

Before you do that, make sure they are logged out of iTunes, iCloud, and iMessage. Also make sure that Find My iPhone is turned off.

Even if the phone is not connected to a wifi? I think it doesn't have service from Verizon any more as the 6+ is now on their network (LTE)

Ok, so I've got the iPhone 5 wiped out and erased = fairly easy. This phone is not on any cellular network but I've added my Apple ID to it and I'll use it on my wifi at home or abroad. I basically want to use the phone as a camera for vacations, and share the pics between my MBP and the iPhone. My MBP is a 2011 and has the latest OSX, the phone has 8.1.3

How do I do this?

Make sure you're logged into iCloud on both devices, turn on photostream on both devices, the pictures will sync over iCloud.

Ok, cool. Thanks!

Also there is an option for 'iCloud Photo Library (Beta)' - does that need to be enabled too? I just enabled 'Upload to my Photo Stream' 🙂

Also, on my MBP I'd like to have the 'iCloud' icon in system preferences on my Dock. Is that possible or no?

Thanks again 🙂

The reachability shortcut is failing me in iOS 8.2 right now. I'll have to reboot my device...

...and for the record, we usually don't call it the "desktop." It's the "home screen" or the "springboard" - though the latter probably won't be understood by most who don't jailbreak their device.
