When I first got a touch screen phone, I had to learn to let go. I had been so used to typing on a keyboard device, the G1000, the PPC-6600 and then the Treo 700wx that I had trained myself to always backspace and correct my typing. When I got my iPhone in 2008, it was real problem. It took a couple of years but what I do is just type it and don't worry about trying to read the text as I type and correct it before it moves on. I just type it, and let autocorrect do its thing. Then, I'll just make sure I reread it before I send anything. Moving from a physical keyboard to a onscreen keyboard takes some getting used to.
As for jailbreaking, I simply asked just to find out what you thought you were missing. For me, I jailbroke for only a couple of reasons. FaceTime over cellular, biteSMS, and mobile hotspot capability. Now, FaceTime and hotspot are included in my plan, and the iPhone 5 is fast enough that I'm not missing biteSMS's quick reply that much, so my need to jailbreak I severely diminished. But, I was never a fan of things like customizing the home screen layout, or widgets. That's why those things don't really draw me towards the Android platform, because I don't really care about them. So I was just wondering what from the JB scene you think you're missing.
Coming from a BB, you're not entrenched in a ecosystem yet. Take the two weeks with an iPhone and then take it back. Try the SGS3 for a couple of weeks. Serious hands on time will be the only way for you to determine which device and OS is best suited to your needs.
