Got a new i5 a few months ago, have a question about the way it stores photos...

My i4 would store all the photos taken in a single file folder (up to 1000, I think, and then start another file.) This new i5 makes photo file folders like they are going out of style... I think there are 11 now. Each folder contains as few as 1 photo, some more... but I can't see any rhyme or reason it does this.

Is there any way to have it store photos in a single file folder? If it's in the settings... I must be missing it... o_O

This is when you hook the device up to a computer to get the photos off? Or are these 'folders' on the device itself?

Which iOS version are you on? Yeah I annoyed me on my iPhone 5 to have 7-8 folders in the dcim folder. But when upgraded to iOS 8.0 and the camera roll was removed and then added back in 8.0.1, my photos got combined into a single folder.

Yes, when you open it up on the computer, and, no, it won't let you move the photos around. But, they are all back together in Camera Roll when you view them on the camera.

I'm running 8.1.1 right now.

Are you using any photo management software on your computer?

I don't know about 'management' software... I drop the iPhone files on my PC, then pile all the images into a single folder for sorting, and then storage or post editing or whatever.

I wasn't sure if you were using Picasa or similar.

Doesn't Windows have built in photo retrieval software that will pull all the images off of a camera?

Well, I just access it as a storage device in Computer... drag n drop to the desktop. I have work photos and personal photos that I have to sort away from each other... but it was just odd that all of a sudden I had 9 file folders instead of 1. If there is a simple iPhone setting that would corral all of them into one folder, that would be nice. My biggest question is whether it was a product of the new phone (i4 vs i5) or the OS. They disappeared a few other things when I went to iOS8... :(
