It's not a survey. It's a collection of questions people had about their phones that needed help.

The iPhone had lack of features and customization as faults, so it didn't exactly have advantages over other devices.

I saw this story a few days ago but would have never posted it here because its not an interesting story. It's basically flamebait and no story like this is going to change anyone on here's opinion about their phone/platform choice.

I guess it's interesting in that it provides some data on reliability, but I have a few issues with the study that I'll cover later. I wouldn't call it a flamebait article by itself, but people are going to jump all over it for various reasons, which really just says more about us than anything else.

My main issues with this study are first and primarily that it doesn't really measure reliability, so much as it measures gripes and issues in general. For example, what do a lack of features, lack of customization, or pre-installed apps have to do with reliability?

The second problem is that it's based on manufacturer, not phone model. Apple only makes a few models of phones, whereas the other companies make dozens of models, some which aren't going to be flagship devices. These lower quality devices are naturally going to generate more complaints as they're not as feature rich as the top end devices and likely use lower quality components to hit their target markets.

I would be more interested in seeing the results based on a per-device level and only including actual issues that could be classified as hardware failures, or software bugs that impact performance negatively.
